This feels like a trick.
I had breakfast with Meditations creator Rami Ismail the other day, since we were both at the Yorkshire Games Festival (me hosting, him giving a long and very useful talk that was vastly under-appreciated by the audience), and I mentioned that I had been disappointed by Jordan Magnuson’s January 14 Meditation. Rami said nothing, but I can only imagine that he was thinking about the imminent arrival of Jordan Magnuson’s second Meditation today, February 12.
Today’s Meditation is similar in form to January 14, but evolved. Where the first was a grey screen that when clicked turned yellow, this grey screen turns multiple colours on multiple clicks. I played it through three times to get a screenshot of the pink.
I am interested to see if Jordan has further Meditations waiting further into the year, and a little spooked that this one came on a day on which I’ve already had a long conversation about having children. But. I think I was somehow emotionally attached to the idea of a different developer for each day (though I had wondered why Rami kept saying that Meditations featured contributions from “350+” developers rather than 365). Will other developers get multiple days? If not, why just this one? I feel like Rami likes to break the rules with a knowing smile, even if they weren’t really rules in the first place. And maybe it’s good for me to have my expectations undermined. But I don’t cope well with surprises.
