March 1 Meditation (joon, Jared Lunt)

Today’s Meditation is about discrimination, but as I played it I was mostly thinking about fragility.

Creator joon wanted to make something to explore discrimination, in light of the UN’s Zero Discrimination Day (today). The result is an enormous skeleton that you can explore, the idea being that when you strip us all back to our skeletons we are far more alike than we might seem.

The Meditation was broken for most of the day, so I got to it at 11pm, sleepy from work and travel. Despite having spent a good portion of today’s journey talking about discrimination, my tired mind didn’t connect the conversation to this experience. Instead, I found myself thinking about the fragility of bodies. I’ve been ill recently, maybe that’s why. And just today I got insoles that changed my entire posture and made underused muscles protest.

I had a housemate who hated to be reminded that she was made of blood and bone. I wonder what she would have made of this.
