We can’t take everyone with us.
In today’s line-drawing Meditation, a hot air balloon slowly falls through the sky while its basket (magically?) fills with more and more people. At the bottom of the screen is a bomb, a pack of matches with which to light it so that its flame lifts the balloon higher, and some kind of bell to smother the flame before it explodes. For a while, you can balance the regrowth of the bomb’s wick with the fall of the balloon, but as more people fill the basket it falls faster; either the bomb will explode, or the balloon will fall.
If this Meditation has a moral, it seems to be a pretty depressing one about limits. But maybe it’s a message we need to hear.
