April 23 Meditation (Berny Cantos)

I think I prefer the Catalonian version of St. George’s Day.

Of course, if you don’t like crowds then the particular version represented in today’s Meditation – trying to walk down a street full of people buying gifts from stalls without getting too close to anyone – may not appeal. But doesn’t the idea of giving your loved ones books (to also honour Cervantes and Shakespeare, who died on April 22 and 23) and roses (for the blood of the dragon George slayed) sound much nicer than having to see even more English flags and being told to “celebrate all things English”?
